"As naught may outrun the destroyer, even with the law and its grip, for the strength of the ship is the service, and the strength of the Service, the ship.”
— Admiral Hopwood’s “Laws of the Navy”
Sustained Investigation
My sustained investigation explores a deeply personal question: How has my journey as a military dependent shaped my identity—past, present, and future? This introspective inquiry unfolds across three distinct chapters: then, now, and later. In the "then" section, I examine my childhood through the lens of a "military brat," capturing the unique challenges and emotions of growing up within the naval community. While this narrative begins with the difficulties of this lifestyle, the "now" portion reveals my evolving perspective and growing appreciation for the Navy's values and culture. Finally, in exploring the "later," I contemplate my future self and the emerging sense of purpose I feel—my own personal "call to serve."
